GOSHEN CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES – NOVEMBER 4, 2009 MEETING
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman John Ross called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M.
PRESENT: John Ross, Anders Nygren, Joan Lang, Barry Donaldson, Audra Allen and Chris Marino. Absent, Barnett Laschever.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the October 7, 2009 Meeting were presented for approval. A MOTION WAS MADE BY Anders Nygren seconded by Barry Donaldson to approve said minutes. No discussion, SO VOTED.
OLD BUSINESS: Perennial Bed Maintenance: Anders Nygren and Audra Alen worked on the bed completing the job of dead heading all the plants. Anders Nygren reported that Donna Grenier was willing to continue to oversee the plantings in the bed but would be up the responsibility of the overall maintenance of the bed. Donna Grenier advised that the beds be mulched this fall with shredded pine bark mulch. The cost of the Mulch is $30.00 a yard. If bought by the Town, it would be $25.00 a yard. It was felt that approximately two yards would be needed and Anders Nygren would speak to Robert Valentine regarding the Town purchase of the needed mulch. If the purchase is approved, Anders Nygren would contact the Commission members regarding a work date to spread the mulch. The Conservation Commission would write an
article for the spring 2010 Addition of the Goshen Town Topics to see if there is any person or group in Town who would like to take on the responsibility for the maintenance of the perennial bed.
Goshen Scenic Areas Identification Brochure – John Ross reported that he had met with Barnett Laschever and in an attempt to make them coherent with the text had upgraded the maps which detail the scenic routes and areas. The Board reviewed the upgraded maps Barnett was reviewing and upgrading the text. Once completed, John Ross would take all proposed brochure material to get a quote for the cost of printing. It estimated at this time that it would be a two sided 8 page brochure.
